It's the Season of Love! Friday the 14th Valentine's Day and you have the opportunity to do something sweet for your special someone by giving them a carnation or a call-out. Carnations will be delivered  during Success. Call-outs will be made by Cupid on each lunch shift. The last day to purchase a carnation is Wednesday, Feb. 12th. Visit the Love table during any of the lunch shifts Monday through Wednesday to make your purchase.

The AHS Band Department will be hosting their 20th Annual Winter Guard Contest - Festival of Colors, this Saturday, February 8th. Our Highland Middle School Guard will perform at 2:44 p.m. and our AHS Varsity Guard will perform at 1:55 p.m. The contest starts at 11:00 and admission is $7.00. Today we are very excited to join the nation in celebrating Black History Month here at Anderson High School. President Trump has issued a proclamation on February 1st. I will read a short excerpt from his proclamation. Through bravery, perseverance, faith, and resolve - often in the face of incredible prejudice and hardship - African Americans have enhanced and advanced every aspect of American life. Their fight for equality, representation, and respect motivates us to continue working for a more promising, peaceful, and hopeful future for every American. During National African Americans History Month, we honor the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans throughout the history of our Republic, and we renew our commitment to liberty and justice for all. The theme of this year's observance, "African Americans and the Vote," coincides with the 150th anniversary of the 15th Amendment, which gave African American  men the right to vote. This Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1870, prohibits the government from denying or abridging a citizen's right to vote based on "race, color, or previous condition of servitude." Today, this guarantee is enforced primarily throughout the Voting Rights Act of 1965, an enduring legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights movement.

These are the last two workouts until April that we will be able to be outside with a football and working on offense and defense. Any athlete not involved in a winter sport is welcomed to attend. please plan on meeting at the stadium as we will begin our workout at 3:00 and finish at 4:10. Go Indians!!!
